Sustainability Initiative

How sustainable are we?

Sustainability is a hot potato – in the food industry as elsewhere – but Bösch Boden Spies is not afraid to embrace it wholeheartedly! As part of a sustainability initiative, we are currently taking a close look at our entire company, our processes, and our partners. We strive to act more sustainable across the board – and we’re confident we’re on the right track.

A responsible and more sustainable approach to all social, commercial, and ecological aspects – that is our aspiration at Bösch Boden Spies. We asked ourselves how close we already are to this goal, and what we have to do to act more sustainably along the entire value chain. In the spring, we took the first steps towards optimization and joined the Centre for Sustainable Corporate Leadership of the University of Witten/Herdecke (ZNU). Around 60 companies in the German food industry belong to this sustainability network.

An even stronger focus on sustainability

Using the ZNU’s tried-and-tested sustainability check, we determined the current status of sustainability within the company in April, examined potential for improvement, and sounded out possible courses of action. These findings form the basis of our broad-based sustainability offensive. We feel that merely reducing negative repercussions is too short-sighted. It’s just as important to systematize, multiply, and expand the positive effects of business processes.

In the months ahead, under the leadership of our Managing Director Dirk Schmidt and the head of our Quality department, Dorota Kollien, we will carry out a detailed review of all processes inside and outside Bösch Boden Spies. As part of the initiative, Ms. Kollien will also become certified as a sustainability manager. She will also initiate an intensive exchange with relevant stakeholders to ensure a continuous improvement process,.

We look forward to keeping you informed about our sustainability initiative.
