Description
Langeberg & Ashton Foods produces its popular fruit cocktail from the end of January to the end of March. The fruits are cut and pitted by machine. They then undergo a mechanical peeling process before being washed and sorted. Maraschino cherries from Italy and seedless grapes are added. Once the fruits have been placed in the tins, a liquid is added to them before the cooking process, which consists either of sugar syrup, fruit juice, artificial sweetener, or water. Depending on the size of the fruit being preserved, the canned preserves then spend a certain amount of time in a revolving cooker before they are left to cool, and then labeled.
