A undervalued Treasure
Barry Callebaut launched the new cacaofruit brand Cabosse Naturals at the end of October 2020, which includes a range of 100% pure cocoafruit products. This new fruit, thanks to the partnership with Cabosse Naturals, is a unique and sustainable addition to our BBS product family.
In tune with consumers’ change of attitude towards tasty and nutritious food and drinks that also do good for the planet, Cabosse Naturals crafts the entire fruit into a range of 100% pure cacaofruit ingredients. While celebrating the zesty fruity taste and natural richness of the fruit, it also generates additional income for the farmers and makes a positive contribution along the entire value chain.
Evergreen outside, pure-white inside
Guanábana, also known as Soursop, is a tropical fruit native to the American tropics. It is grdown on the Annona Muricata tree and has a greenish-yellow colour, a prickly skin and a creamy white flesh. With its natural flavour between pineapple and strawberry and its creamy white colour, Guanábana is a perfect addition to smoothies, ice cream, bakery and confectionery products, as well as sauces.
Our partner Anabana, based in the Colombian Andes, is a family business with a solid family tradition and has set itself the task of making the spiny and exotic fruit internationally appreciated and popular.
An old berry that has been rediscovered. With its potent antioxidant action, the Haskap berry binds free radicals and thus protects body cells. Vitamins C, A and E, as well as iron, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium are just some of its nutrients. A super berry that is not only healthy, but also tastes good.
Thanks to the frozen processing by our partner bloom Nordic Berries, the berry is perfect for yoghurts, as a supplement in muesli, but also for processing into juices, jams and alcoholic drinks.
The fruit has been valued as a remedy since ancient times. Antioxidants, amino acids, minerals, vitamins C, B6, B12, D and E and the omega fatty acids 7 and 9 make sea buckthorn a real superfruit.
The vitamin C content even exceeds that of oranges and lemons. The small berry also contains vitamin B12, which is usually almost exclusively found in animal products. Like most vitamins, vitamin C and B12 are also sensitive to the effects of heat during the drying process. Our partner Hippocrates Farm has developed a solution to this problem: the osmotic drying process. This is a low-temperature drying process that preserves the original structure, vitamins, flavour, colour and all the components of the sea buckthorn fruit. Furthermore, sea buckthorn from Hippocrates Farm is BIO certified, free from additives and preservatives and is sweetened exclusively with apple juice concentrate.
