Bösch Boden Spies enters the refining of food ingredients

  • The B-to-B-Food-Ingredients Supplier Bösch Boden Spies takes a share in the Polish producer of dried apple pieces Zarecki Foods
  • Consistent expansion of the service portfolio to include Eastern European value added fruit pieces for the European food industry and trade

The Europe-wide B-to-B Food Ingredients Supplier Bösch Boden Spies has acquired a stake in the Polish producer of dried apple pieces Zarecki Foods Sp.zo.o. “After 107 years as a classic import agency for preserved fruits and nuts, we are now opening a new chapter in the company’s history and expanding our product portfolio for the first time with food ingredients of Eastern European origin.”, says Dirk Schmidt, Managing Partner and Co-CEO of Bösch Boden Spies.

The fruit processor Zarecki Foods was founded in 2015 by the UK fruit grower and supplier J.O. Sims together with the Polish entrepreneur Marcin Sosnicki as managing partner. A modern, BRC-certified production facility for drying local apples has been
established in Sieradz, in the center of Poland. The dried apples are used as a vitamin C-containing, fibre-rich, natural, healthy snack in breakfast cereals, fruit bars and various baked goods. They are characterized by a high special taste quality and sustainable cultivation and processing. While J.O. Sims holds the exclusive marketing rights for the apple products in the UK and Ireland, Bösch Boden Spies will be responsible for the distribution of the Zarecki Foods portfolio in all markets of continental Europe.

Strong partner for whole Europe

“We are pleased to have won Bösch Boden Spies as an equal, highly competent partner with whom we will successfully leverage the potential of Zarecki Foods in Europe,” said J.O. Sims’ managing partner Christopher Sims.

“The team of Bösch Boden Spies with its broad market expertise and its Europe-wide network perfectly completes our processing competence”, says Zarecki Foods Managing Director and shareholder Marcin Sosnicki.

Today, Bösch Boden Spies already offers its customers in the various food segments a wide range of processing forms for the fruits and nuts traded, from dried, to frozen, as concentrate or puree. “With Zarecki Foods, we are consistently expanding the
product portfolio of our mostly non-European partners to include dried apple pieces 2 of Polish origin, thus creating new sales potentials”, says Philipp Stradtmann, Co-CEO responsible for the market.
