The South African pecan market is starting the 2025 harvest season with promising prospects. According to current estimates, around 20-30 % of the harvest has already been brought in at the beginning of July. Initial indications point to a significant increase in the total yield compared to the previous year.

The latest forecasts put the pecan harvest in 2025 at 40,800 to 45,100 tons - a clear increase on the approximately 36,000 tons from 2024. Despite typical fluctuations in forecasts, the industry is confident that this year's harvest will exceed the previous year's level.

The early results of the nut processing are particularly noteworthy: with an impressive yield of around 60 %, many kernels fall into the "oversize" category. Usually around 30-40 % of the South African harvest are in the extra-large category - but this season there is a significant trend towards larger kernels.

This increase in volume and quality class continues to position South Africa as a major player in the global pecan market.
