The report from March / early April shows one of the most challenging phases that the industry has experienced in recent years: After an initially very positive start to the season, exceptionally heavy rainfall in the region led to considerable stress. In just one weekend, more rainfall fell than normally occurs in an entire year.
Despite these difficult conditions, production is working flat out to ensure the best possible quality. This season, there will probably be a higher proportion of darker-colored fruit, the overall quantities available will remain limited.
