The 2026 Chilean walnut harvest is expected to begin in around two weeks' time. As usual, the first step will be the Serr variety, while the Chandler variety, which accounts for the largest share of production, against End of March is likely to be harvested.
According to current estimates, the Total harvest volume of around 175,000 tons is expected to be at a similar level to the previous year. No major volume deviations are currently expected. The outlook is also positive in terms of quality: Chile recorded a good winter and a slightly warmer summer than usual, but without periods of extreme heat. From today's perspective, producers therefore expect stable quality and an overall solid harvest.
However, one potential risk factor remains Precipitation during the harvest season. Meteorologists point out that with the possible occurrence of El Niño conditions the probability of rain in April could increase. Precipitation during the harvest can have a particularly Drying and further processing of the walnuts. The development of the weather situation will therefore continue to be monitored closely.
