The buds of the fruit survived the winter well and healthy and developed a strong blossom. Pollination, which took place from the end of May to mid-June, was favored by the good weather. Fortunately, there was no spring frost.
After the heatwave of the last two weeks, the plants now urgently need rain.
We are optimistic that this year’s harvest will be average to good. The harvest has just started in Maine, USA, and will spread to the Canadian growing regions in the coming weeks. A clearer picture of the overall harvest will emerge as soon as the yields from all regions are available.
The considerable demand since January has helped to reduce surplus stocks.
