Simply top in taste and functionality.
In contrast to cultivated blueberries, wild blueberries only grow where they feel at home. For more than 10,000 years, the wild bushes have enriched the nature of the Quebec region and the Atlantic coast of Canada.
Wild blueberries contain less water and are about the size of a pea when dried. The multi-layered aroma with sweet and slightly spicy notes is typical.
The fruits are rich in anthocyanins, antioxidant plant pigments that protect the body's cells from free radicals. These substances are mainly found in the dark skin. At the same time, wild blueberries are a light treat with only 57 kilocalories per 100 grams. They provide filling fiber and contain vitamins C and A as well as potassium, phosphorus and magnesium.
Our partner Oxford Frozen Foods is the world's largest supplier of frozen wild blueberries. With IQF (individually quick frozen) berries, each berry is individually frozen in the freezing tunnel, resulting in no clumping and a unique quality.
However, Oxford also has other qualities in its range, such as blueberry juice concentrate and dried blueberries.
Dried wild blueberries can be used by food producers to enhance the taste and function of baked goods, chocolates, muesli bars, fruit and nut mixes and much more. They are robust and easy to process, they do not burst in baking or other production processes and transfer their "healthy image" to the end product.
