Our Brazilian partner Niagro, a company founded in 1992 by the Japanese Nichirei Corporation, specializes in acerola products. Once a pioneer in the field, Niagro is now a global leader in the processing and marketing of the small acerola cherry. To source its raw materials, Niagro relies on strong ties with 200 local farmers around the city of Petrolina, in the fertile coastal plain of the state of Pernambuco.
Over the past two decades, Niagro has introduced this formerly largely unknown fruit to Europe and North America and now sells acerola products to food manufacturers around the world.
