Goldenberry

The Andean berry with the unique taste.

Information

This golden yellow berry grows in South America, in the sunny Andean regions of Ecuador and Colombia, which is why it is also known as the goldenberry. It is also known as physalis, Andean cherry, Inca berry and Cape gooseberry.

Even in small additions, goldenberries are easily recognizable thanks to their unique aroma and balanced sugar-acid profile. They are very valuable as an ingredient in nut and berry mixes, chocolates, jams and juices. On the one hand, goldenberries impress with their characteristic sweet and sour taste. On the other hand, they have natural antioxidants, are rich in fiber, contain iron and phosphorus, a lot of vitamin C (approx. 30 mg/100 g) and vitamin B1 and are a natural supplier of the cell-protecting substance provitamin A.

The golden berry can be used in a variety of ways, for example dried - with or without sugar - or sweetened with juice, in organic quality or as a juice concentrate.

Terrafertil, the world's largest producer of goldenberries, ensures the consistently high quality of the products. Bösch Boden Spies sources both conventional and organic goldenberries from here.
