The pecan harvest in South Africa is in full swing, and the first consignments of in-shell nuts have already been delivered to processors. The current SAPPA harvest estimate of 57,000 tonnes is considered realistic, although a total of up to 60,000 tonnes appears possible.
Despite rainfall in several growing regions, no significant quality issues have been identified so far. The first consignments from KwaZulu-Natal are of a high standard, and further volumes from the Orange River and Vaalharts regions are expected shortly.
SKR values are slightly below last year’s levels, which is primarily due to the significantly larger harvest. Overall, a good supply of South African pecans is expected for the season. We therefore look forward to receiving your enquiry!
